Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking Standards
Last updated: June 1, 2025 · Editorial team size: 4 full-time reviewers · Contact: admin@aicompare.online
AICompare publishes independent reviews, comparisons, and rankings of AI tools. This page explains exactly how we conduct research, test products, verify facts, handle corrections, and maintain editorial independence. We publish these standards publicly because we believe transparency is the foundation of trustworthy product journalism.
Our Core Editorial Principles
🔬
Independence
No AI company can pay to appear in our rankings or receive a higher score. Commercial relationships are disclosed and never influence editorial outcomes.
⚖️
Accuracy
Every factual claim is verified before publication. Pricing, features, and specifications are cross-referenced against official documentation.
🔄
Currency
AI tools change rapidly. We update reviews when tools release major updates, change pricing, or materially alter their capabilities.
🎯
Relevance
We test tools against real-world use cases. Our benchmarks reflect how actual users — writers, developers, marketers — use these tools daily.
Who Writes and Reviews Our Content
All content on AICompare is produced by our editorial team of domain-specific specialists. We do not publish AI-generated reviews without human expert review and verification. Our team includes:
- Alex Chen — Former ML engineer, 8 years in AI/ML. Leads our technical AI and LLM category reviews.
- Sarah Mitchell — Professional marketing writer, 8 years. Leads AI writing tool and content marketing reviews.
- Marcus Okonkwo — Designer and animator, 6 years. Leads image generation, video AI, and creative tool reviews.
- Priya Sharma — Senior software engineer, 7 years. Leads coding assistant and developer tool reviews.
All team members are identified by name on their bylined articles. See our full author directory for credentials, expertise areas, and contact information.
Our Review and Testing Process
01
Tool Selection
We select tools based on market relevance, user demand, and search interest. Tools are not selected based on commercial relationships or affiliate availability.
02
Independent Account Creation
Reviewers sign up for tool accounts independently using personal or editorial email addresses. We purchase paid plans with our own funds to test premium features honestly.
03
Standardized Testing Protocol
Each tool is tested using our standardized prompt sets across 20+ real-world tasks relevant to the tool's category. Tests are run by at least two independent reviewers to eliminate individual bias.
04
Seven-Dimension Scoring
Scores are calculated across: Output Quality (30%), Reliability (20%), Value for Money (15%), Ease of Use (15%), Feature Depth (10%), API Access (5%), and Customer Support (5%). Scores are averaged across all reviewers.
05
Fact Verification
All factual claims — pricing, feature lists, model specifications, company information — are verified against official documentation, press releases, or direct contact with the company before publication.
06
Editorial Review
A second editorial team member reviews all completed reviews for accuracy, balance, and completeness before publication. Drafts with factual disputes are held until resolved.
07
Publication and Dating
All reviews are published with a "Last Updated" date. Major revisions receive a new date and are noted in the article.
Fact-Checking Standards
We apply the following fact-checking standards to all content published on AICompare:
What We Verify
- All pricing information is verified against the official tool pricing page at time of publication
- Feature claims are verified against official documentation or in-product testing
- Company founding dates, employee counts, and funding figures are verified against Crunchbase, official press releases, or SEC filings
- Technical specifications (model size, context window, tokens per minute) are verified against official model cards or API documentation
- User count claims are sourced and noted as estimates unless from official announcements
- Comparative claims ("X is faster than Y") are based on our own standardized testing
Source Standards
- Primary sources (official documentation, API specs, company announcements) are preferred over secondary sources
- Unverified claims from press coverage are not published without independent confirmation
- User reviews and community reports are aggregated and noted as such, not presented as editorial findings
- We do not publish claims we cannot verify even if widely reported elsewhere
Important: AI tools update frequently. We cannot guarantee all specifications remain accurate after publication. Always verify current pricing and features directly with the tool provider before making a purchasing decision. If you find outdated information, please email admin@aicompare.online.
Correction Policy
We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. Our correction process:
1
Report an error — Email
admin@aicompare.online with the URL, the incorrect information, and the correct information with a source.
2
Acknowledgment within 24 hours — We confirm receipt of your correction request and begin verification.
3
Verification within 48 hours — Our editorial team verifies the claim against primary sources.
4
Correction published — If verified, we correct the article and add an Editor's Note at the bottom noting the date and nature of the correction.
5
Major errors — Significant factual errors that affect our scoring or rankings result in a complete re-review of the section or article.
Advertising & Commercial Relationships
AICompare earns revenue through Google AdSense display advertising and affiliate commissions when readers purchase tools through our links. These commercial relationships are subject to the following editorial safeguards:
- Affiliate commissions do not influence rankings. Many top-ranked tools on AICompare have no affiliate program. Many tools with affiliate programs are ranked lower than non-affiliate tools.
- Advertisers cannot purchase editorial coverage. Display advertising is served automatically by Google AdSense and has no relationship to editorial content.
- Sponsored content is clearly labeled. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" at the top of the page.
- Affiliate links are disclosed. Pages containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement near the top of the content.
- Scores are calculated before monetization decisions. Tool scores are determined by our testing methodology, not by commercial considerations.
We publish our full commercial disclosure in our About page and in individual articles where affiliate links are present.
AI-Assisted Content Policy
AICompare uses AI writing tools as part of our research and drafting process, consistent with our position as an AI tool review publication. Our policy:
- AI tools may assist with research, drafts, and structural outlines
- All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and verified by a human expert before publication
- Factual claims, scores, and testing results are always human-verified
- No review is published based solely on AI-generated content without human expert review
- We believe in practicing what we review — using AI tools is part of how we develop genuine expertise in evaluating them
Independence Statement
AICompare operates as an independent publication. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any AI tool company. Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial interests. Our founding team are professionals with prior experience in the AI, software, design, and writing industries — not salespeople or marketers employed by the tools we review.
